Chapter 3: A Little Fun Tonight

Jarred awake by the sound of a loud crash from downstairs, my husband shot up out of bed and took a gun with him to investigate. I hid under the covers cowering in fear as I heard struggles, and then a gunshot. I didn't know who had been shot, but I prayed it wasn't my husband. I tried to remain as still as I could under the covers when I heard the bedroom door open. I wasn't going to even breathe until I knew it was him and not one of the intruders. He never came.

I felt a hand on top of the covers and when they were pulled away, an unfamiliar man was leering at me. As soon as I saw it wasn't my husband, I jumped out of the bed and ran to the window. The man tried to grab me, but missed. I was just about to unlatch the lock when he spoke. His voice was low and scary, almost guttural.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you. There are still chemicals in the air that can poison you."

I hung my head. He was right. The chemical attack a few days ago had left disgusting smells and noxious fumes in the air. Looters had been on the rise as society broke down. I could only assume this man was one of those looters. I heard another loud noise from downstairs, realizing it was probably one of his buddies stealing things from our house.

"What do you want from me? Do you want stuff? Just take it, and go. I'm guessing you already incapacitated my husband, and I can't stop you, so just take what you want. I won't put up a fight."

The man continued leering at me, his eyes traveling up my body, until his eyes settled on my boobs. I felt instantly uncomfortable, wishing I had worn more clothing to sleep in, and crossed my arms over my chest. I was fairly certain he had already seen enough through the sheer fabric of my nightgown, but I no longer wanted to give him the satisfaction.

"No, my buddy's taking your stuff. I want you. You're a sexy little thing."

I stood frozen, unable to move, even though my brain was screaming at me to run away, hit him, use anything as a weapon, to just get away from him.

"Did you hurt my husband?"

"I just shot him a little bit. He'll be fine. I just wanted to have a little fun tonight."

  1. Eeewww what a creep! >_< I'm scared for the woman.. I hope her husband comes to the rescue and snaps this guys neck or something. >:D I've always been scared of stuff like this.. Like, the world happens to be going to shit and people have the urge to just do whatever the hell they want without any thought of reciprocation. *shutters*
    Can't wait for more :D

    1. *shudders* This guy is disgusting. I mean, when apocalypses happen, people's right hands don't just stop working, so I do not understand why some feel the urge to use other people as blow up dolls. I see this all too damn often in end of the world movies. I felt a little bad using it here, but it was a good lead in to what I wanted her story to become, so it worked. All I can say is that I am learning some self defense so I can kick the asses of people like this should I ever need to. You are right too, for some reason, end of the world makes people think they have no consequences, like there's no laws anymore? So not true, and another thing I don't understand about the human mind. LOL.

Thanks for reading and commenting! =)

  2. OMG! Wowzers how awful. I hope her husband isn't dead and he comes to her rescue before the intruder can rape her. I love this story already, its crazy to think what would happen if the world goes to hell. :(

    1. She is in a sticky situation right now... *bites fingernails* Only time will tell if her husband and her will get out of this unscathed. Aww thanks. =) I think it's crazy too, so I'm making myself think about different possibilities from different character perspectives.

I'm glad you're enjoying this, and thanks for reading and commenting! =)

  3. I can't believe that she really stayed in her bed when she heard the gunshot downstairs- how and adult person seriously be hiding under the COVERS OF HER BED in a situation like this?!? o.O

    1. Hi anna! LOLL your comment made me laugh. It does seem silly, doesn't it? Hiding under the covers like a small child? =)
She is scared shitless right now. We don't know much about her, except that she's married. We can conclude she has no children, or she would have been running to protect them. Her fight or flight instinct kicked in, and she chose flight. She wanted to hide because if there was a gunshot downstairs, she didn't want to run down there and also potentially get shot herself. She was banking on being quiet as a mouse, hoping that the intruders would leave if she could fool them into thinking that there was no one else in the house. However, she obviously failed. ROFL.

Thanks so much for reading and commenting! =)

  6. That's why the people need guns, to protect themselves from creeps like this! Stupid military! I hope she's going to be okay and some kind soul saves her. Crossing my fingers.

    1. *nods* The bad guys are of course, going to take advantage of this, knowing people have no way to protect themselves. Bad guys always get their guns somehow, so the military's logic in the previous chapter was seriously flawed... big time.

  7. Excuse me? A little fun? Screw you buddy! Why is she just standing there? I'll take chemical poisoning over rape any day. And if they are walking around, it can't be that bad!

    1. He's a bad... bad.. excuse for a man. Well, she's just standing there because she's scared and frozen in place. Apparently, that's her reaction to being put in this type of situation. She was also just standing there cause I left this at a cliffhanger. LOL. That's true, it might not seem that bad, the guy could have been lying to scare her to stay so he can do stuff to her... but mainly, I haven't shown the outside yet, and people at this point were wearing gas masks. This dude isn't cause he's already inside their house.

Thanks for reading and commenting. :D

    2. Taina (post above) is right, I'd for sure not just stand there waiting for him to have his "little fun". I'd rather take my chances outside or at least fight...

    3. Haha, yeah Chapter 4 is the continuation of this chapter. The outside is bad at the moment, since the chemical attack just happened, the levels are not safe for humans to breathe, he wasn't lying about that. Fighting is a good option, some people though, in scary situations like this, just freeze because they're too scared. No one really knows what they will do in an actual situation like this, not even me. I'd like to think I would fight, but until I actually get put in a situation like this (hopefully never, LOL) I don't know what I would do. Shock and fear do some really strange things to people.
:) Thanks for reading and commenting!

  8. NO! I also would be scared of this. In fact, sometimes I worry about my daughter (she's only 7) having something disgusting like this happen. So, yeah, yuck! Can't stop, though, hopefully she'll beat the crap out of him somehow. :)

    1. I know, right? I don't know what it is about the end of the world causing people to act like animals, and lose respect for everyone else, but it seems to be that way. I don't know, I think it's something like they think they're not accountable for anything just because there's chaos. This man is really gross. *holds nose*

  10. "shot him a little bit" doesn't sound promising. The poor woman - I'm not sure how she'll get out of this but I really hope someone comes to her rescue.

    1. Yeah... >:D I'm building suspense, so what he says to her is supposed to make you wonder. Her fate will be shown... soon.

  11. Although I dislike this guy and everything he represents, I'm glad that you've decided to show the darker sides of the apocalypse. I get the sense that society is breaking down and people aren't safe in their own homes. Good job :)

    1. Yeah this guy is an asshole. Plain and simple. LOL. Thank you! I'm glad you like the way I'm writing this. :) I did totally want to show a different side of the apocalypse. XD Criminals and just people in general, are taking advantage of the disbanding of the police force and running around like animals.

  12. So the story follows several characters?? Pretty cool. Hope her husband isn't dead.

    1. Yes it does. I started it with four different main characters, so you'll meet the other two later on. These couple chapters, up until chapter 7, are introductions to each of the characters. Pretty much, what happened at each of their houses on the same night to show the chaos that ensues in an apocalyptic world. :) Then later, their story lines will merge somehow...

  13. "I just shot him a little bit. He'll be fine. I just wanted to have a little fun tonight." O.o he's a creep lol Omg I feel so bad for her....I don't understand why he said she shouldn't go outside since he broke in her house so he must've been outside too. I hope she doesn't let him get what he wants. Put up a fight lady! Lol nice chapter I'm wondering if they have an extra gun in the house and if her husband works with the guy seen in chapter 1 and 2.

    1. Yeah this guy is a criminal, either that, or he is taking advantage of the world in its broken state, and acting on things he would have always liked to do. Very bad man.
Sorry for the confusion about the going outside and it being dangerous. People outside are wearing gas masks, and this guy took off his gas mask while he was in their house looting them. Since I wasn't going from the guy's point of view, I didn't show the gas masks in this chapter, but Chapter 5, I think has someone who's wearing a gas mask.
She's kind of a wuss, LOL, she's privileged, and nothing like this has ever happened to her, let alone, she never thought it would happen to her, so she's completely unprepared right now.
After Chapter 7, you'll find out how these characters are tied together, but I will say now that her husband does not work with the guy in chapters 1 and 2.
